27 State AGs, Bayer Strike Deal Over Yaz Ads

Law360, New York (February 9, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Attorneys general from 27 states have reached a settlement with Bayer Corp. over allegedly misleading claims in television advertisements for birth control product Yaz that suggested the drug was approved for and effective in treating premenstrual symptoms and acne.

A judge in Massachusetts’ Suffolk Superior Court issued a judgment Monday approving the settlement between the pharmaceutical firm and attorneys general, modifying an existing agreement concerning advertisements of another Bayer product, Baycol, a cholesterol-lowering drug that has been subject to many product liability lawsuits.
