Judge Drops 24 Knee Implant Cases From Zimmer MDL

Law360, Springfield (November 30, 2016, 8:53 PM EST) -- An Illinois federal court has dismissed 24 cases from multidistrict litigation accusing a biomedical engineering firm of making faulty knee implants, saying the patients didn’t provide expert declarations to back up their claims by the court-mandated deadline.

In a three-page dismissal filed Monday, U.S. District Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer dismissed the cases of the 24 plaintiffs with prejudice from the MDL alleging Zimmer Inc.’s NexGen knee joints loosen prematurely.
