Teflon Chemical Claims To Stay In Fed. Court, Judge Rules

Law360, New York (November 30, 2016, 8:29 PM EST) -- A New Hampshire federal judge on Wednesday declined to send back litigation against Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics over water allegedly contaminated with a toxic chemical used in manufacturing Teflon to state court, as the company is also facing similar suits filed in New York and Vermont.

Those suits, containing similar allegations, prevent the proposed class actions from being moved back to state court where they were originally filed, U.S. District Judge Joseph N. Laplante said, as they defeat the “local controversy” exception under the Class Action Fairness...
