Bankrupt Tronox Sues US, NJ Over Cleanup Cases

Law360, New York (February 10, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Bankrupt pigment maker Tronox LLC has filed an adversary complaint against the U.S. government and the state of New Jersey, seeking a judgment that two environmental cleanup lawsuits are general unsecured claims that should be handled in Chapter 11 proceedings.

According to its adversary complaint, filed Monday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, Tronox also denies that it or any related entity assumed liability for releases or threatened releases of hazardous substances at a New Jersey Superfund site.
