Verizon Hit With IP Suit Over 4G LTE Network Tech

Law360, New York (December 1, 2016, 3:39 PM EST) -- The owner of a portfolio of former SkyTel intellectual property Wednesday accused Verizon Wireless of unlawfully using its patented technology to support the mobile company’s 4G LTE networks in Texas federal court.

Mobile Telecommunications technologies, or Mtel, claims technology used in Verizon’s network infrastructure violates four patents issued between 1996 and 1999 covering “multiple-input multiple-output technology,” technology for transmitter optimization and a “Nationwide Communication System” which was at the heart of a failed suit MTel brought against Blackberry Corp. decided in July.
