EEOC Says Trucking Co. Illegally Passed Over Bipolar Vet

Law360, New York (December 1, 2016, 3:09 PM EST) -- A Texas refrigerated trucking company violated federal law when it failed to hire a U.S. Air Force veteran because he takes medicine to treat bipolar disorder, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleged in a lawsuit filed Thursday in Texas federal court.

Stevens Transport Inc. violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title I of the Civil Rights Act when it disqualified Bill Brown for a driving job because of his illness, despite his otherwise being a fine hire, the agency said.
