Turkish Weightlifter’s Doping Appeal Tossed By Sports Court

Law360, New York (December 1, 2016, 4:47 PM EST) -- The Court of Arbitration for Sport on Thursday threw out the appeal of a Turkish weightlifter who had her silver medal from the 2008 Beijing Olympics stripped this year for a doping violation in a retested sample.

Sibel Özkan Konak was appealing the International Olympic Committee’s July decision to disqualify her results from the Beijing Olympics after a urine sample from the games had been reanalyzed, with the improved tests showing the presence of Stanozolol metabolite.
