Real Estate Database Says Rival Stole Thousands Of Photos

Law360, Los Angeles (December 13, 2016, 5:50 PM EST) -- Commercial real estate information giant CoStar Group Inc. accused rival Xceligent Inc. of repeatedly gaining access to its subscription database and stealing photos and information for use on its own site, according to an infringement complaint filed in Missouri federal court Monday.

CoStar said Xceligent’s database has thousands of entries that were lifted directly from CoStar’s paid service, quoting an anonymous Xceligent employee who said about 90 percent of Xceligent’s entire information base comes from CoStar’s paid work, according to the complaint.
