Class Certified In Alliant ERISA Suit

Law360 (February 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has awarded class certification to plaintiffs alleging that Alliant Energy Corp.'s pension plan shortchanges its participants, rejecting the defendant's arguments that the former employees are not adequate class representatives.

On Thursday, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, Judge Barbara A. Crabb granted class certification to plaintiffs who charged that the Alliance Energy Cash Balance Pension Plan incorrectly calculates benefits and underpays its pension plan participants.
