Stryker Adds Patients To $1B Hip Implant Settlement

Law360, New York (December 19, 2016, 7:12 PM EST) -- Stryker Corp. and and its subsidiary Howmedica Osteonics Corp. said Monday that they’ve agreed to compensate additional plaintiffs in the multidistrict litigation that netted a $1 billion settlement two years ago for patients who received allegedly defective metal hip replacements.

Eligible U.S. plaintiffs now include patients who had surgery to replace their Rejuvenate and/or ABG II modular-neck hip stems up until Monday, according to an agreement struck between the Stryker entities and the court-appointed committees of attorneys representing plaintiffs in multicounty litigation in New Jersey and multidistrict lawsuits in federal court.
