Appeals Court To Hear Landmark File Swapping Case Tuesday

Law360 (February 2, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal will hear a landmark case Tuesday that will likely shape the entertainment industry’s legal strategy in its campaign against illegal file sharing on the internet.

Attorneys for dozens of film and recording companies, as well as the Recording Industry Association of America and the Motion Picture Association of America, are seeking persuade a three-judge panel in San Francisco to overturn a ruling that cleared two companies of liability for illegal file sharing of copyrighted audio and video.
