EPA Gives States $6B Stimulus For Clean Water

Law360 (February 20, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has released $6 billion to individual states for clean water programs, as one of the "green initiatives" in President Obama's $787 billion economic recovery package.

On Wednesday, the EPA released the stimulus money, allotting money through two separate funds: the Clean Water State Revolving Fund and the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

EPA designated $4 billion for the first fund — which goes to improvements in water quality and wastewater infrastructure — and $2 billion for the second fund, which improves drinking water.
