JBS, National Beef Kill $560M Merger

Law360, New York (February 20, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- JBS SA’s planned $560 million acquisition of National Beef Packing Co. LLC, which drew litigation from federal antitrust regulators and others, has been terminated by both companies.

Brazil-based JBS, the largest beef packer in the world, and Kansas City, Mo.-based National Beef, the fourth-biggest beef processor in the U.S., said Friday they had decided not to go through with the deal.
