EchoStar Wins Block Of Damaging DVR Injunction

Law360 (August 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Friday temporarily blocked a temporary injunction that would have prevented Echostar Communication Corp. from selling some of its digitial video recorders and stopped the service of about 4 million DVRs within 30 days.

EchoStar, parent of the DISH satellite TV service, was also ordered to pay more than $89 million for infringing on its rival’s patents in an order Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
