Texas Jury Awards $23M For Cattle Broker Fraud

Law360, Dallas (January 24, 2017, 7:15 PM EST) -- A Texas jury has awarded a Nebraska cattle broker $23.2 million from a trio of Texans accused of running a check fraud scheme to buy and sell cattle in what is allegedly one of the largest cattle frauds in Texas history.

The verdict, returned Friday in Jack County District Court, awards Midwestern Cattle Marketing LLC about $6.2 million in actual damages for fraud, $1 million for the economic loss incurred as a result of the fraud scheme and a total of $16 million in punitive damages...
