Browne's IP Suit Against McCain, RNC Survives

Law360 (February 23, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and the Republican National Committee have lost their bids to toss musician Jackson Browne’s suit accusing them of failing to get authorization to use his song “Running on Empty” in one of McCain’s presidential campaign commercials.

In a series of rulings Feb. 20, Judge R. Gary Klausner of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California denied motions by McCain and the RNC to dismiss Browne’s copyright infringement and false endorsement suit.
