Trump Order Prompts Judge To Halt Keystone Denial Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (January 30, 2017, 11:01 PM EST) -- A Texas federal judge on Monday froze a lawsuit from TransCanada Corp. challenging former President Barack Obama's denial of a Keystone XL permit now that President Donald Trump has allowed the company to move forward with a second application.

TransCanada sued the Obama administration after losing its bid to build the oil sands pipeline from Alberta to Nebraska. The parties had filed dueling motions for summary judgment last spring that were still pending when TransCanada last week filed a new permit application seeking U.S. Department of State approval to construct the pipeline following Trump's push to move the project forward....
