Cravath Wants Shell Docs Order Stayed During Appeal
Law360, Los Angeles (February 13, 2017, 10:58 PM EST) -- Cravath Swaine & Moore LLP on Monday urged a New York federal judge to stay a Jan. 24 order compelling the firm to turn over Royal Dutch Shell documents for planned litigation against the energy giant in the Netherlands while the firm appeals the decision to the Second Circuit.
Cravath is challenging the district court’s order granting the Nigerian environmental and human rights advocate Esther Kiobel leave to issue a subpoena on the firm to produce the documents under federal law providing for assistance to foreign courts and litigants.
