Fed. Circ. Reverses Alice Win For US In F-35 Helmet Case
Law360, New York (March 8, 2017, 7:52 PM EST) -- The Federal Circuit on Wednesday reversed a decision invalidating a patent on motion tracking technology asserted against the U.S. government in a case over helmet display systems used by F-35 fighter jet pilots, finding that the patent is not directed to an abstract idea.
The appeals court said that Judge Thomas C. Wheeler of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims wrongly granted the government's motion for judgment on the pleadings that Thales Visionix Inc.'s patent is invalid under the U.S. Supreme Court's Alice decision because it claims nothing more than an abstract idea.
