Bharara Fired After Refusing To Resign

Law360, New York (March 11, 2017, 2:46 PM EST) -- U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said on Saturday that he had been fired after he refused to comply with Attorney General Jeff Sessions' order directing Obama-appointed U.S. attorneys to resign.

The high-profile Manhattan federal prosecutor said in November that President-Elect Trump had asked him to stay. That offer was apparently revoked on Friday when the U.S. Department of Justice announced that all 46 U.S. attorneys from the previous administration had been asked to resign.
