Eight Charged In $70M Black-Market Drug Scam

Law360, New York (August 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Eight individuals and six companies are facing charges stemming from their alleged roles in a $70 million dollar black-market prescription drug ring.

Six defendants were hit with a 129 count indictment—in Nassau County Court—that included multiple felony counts. Felony complaints have also been filed against two defendants in Nassau County District Court.

The New York State Attorney General’s office has also filed a civil suit in connection with the alleged prescription drug scam looking to recover more than $70 million from more than 30 defendants involved...
