Riddell Can Proceed With Helmet Cases During PTAB Review

Law360, Chicago (March 13, 2017, 5:08 PM EDT) -- An Illinois federal judge told Riddell Inc. on Sunday that it could press ahead with litigation asserting patent infringement against two competing helmet manufacturers, ruling that a pending Patent Trial and Appeal Board review does not automatically mean that the two cases be stayed.

U.S. District Judge Matthew F. Kennelly denied a motion brought by Kranos Corp. and Xenith LLC to stay Riddell’s case while PTAB conducts an inter partes review on the three patents that the famed helmet maker says its competitors are infringing....
