Coachella Hits Urban Outfitters, Free People With TM Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (March 14, 2017, 8:46 PM EDT) -- The Coachella Music Festival accused Urban Outfitters Inc. and its Free People unit of selling clothes marketed under the Coachella name aimed at its concertgoers, according to a suit filed in California federal court Tuesday.

Coachella, which brought in 99,000 people per day of its six-day festival in 2016, said Urban and Free People are attempting to associate themselves with the popular event without permission, trading on the success of Coachella’s marks.
