Calif. Bar Wins Over Exec. Director In Whistleblower Case

Law360, San Francisco (March 20, 2017, 11:20 PM EDT) -- The State Bar of California prevailed Monday in a wrongful termination suit filed by former executive director Joe Dunn when an arbitrator determined Dunn failed to show he was fired in retaliation for being a whistleblower.

Arbitrator Edward A. Infante ruled Dunn hadn't proved he'd engaged in a protected activity or that his "whistleblowing" led to his firing. The bar's board of trustees had already investigated allegations he'd misled the board when attorney Mark Geragos of Geragos & Geragos PLC sent the bar two letters saying he represented anonymous whistleblowers within the state bar.
