Sony, Westinghouse Settle Digital Patent Spat

Law360 (March 9, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Resolving a patent dispute over digital closed-caption and digital copy protection technologies, Westinghouse Digital Electronics LLC has consented to judgment against it on several patent claims brought by rival Sony Corp.

On Wednesday, Judge R. Gary Klausner approved the consent judgment dismissing the case with prejudice from the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

The companies didn't disclose the financial terms of the settlement, but the agreement said that Westinghouse consented to judgment on 10 counts in Sony's amended complaint.
