Trump Taps King & Spalding Partner For Key Trade Post

Law360, New York (April 12, 2017, 7:26 PM EDT) -- President Donald Trump announced late Tuesday that he will nominate a King & Spalding LLP partner to serve as the undersecretary of commerce for international trade, tapping yet another petitioner-side heavyweight to execute his enforcement-heavy trade agenda.

If confirmed by the Senate, Gilbert B. Kaplan will head the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration, which conducts anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations of foreign goods at the behest of domestic producers. The bulk of his work at King & Spalding has been helping U.S. companies pursue those very same duties.
