Stolen Fitbit Allegations Can’t Proceed In NJ, Judge Says

Law360, New York (May 10, 2017, 8:05 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey federal judge on Tuesday freed Fitbit Inc. from a suit accusing it of falsely claiming that a retailer of refurbished electronics was selling stolen items, ruling that Fitbit’s lack of intent to cause harm in the Garden State means that the court lacks jurisdiction.

U.S. District Judge Madeline Cox Arleo ruled that just because New Jersey retailer Laguna 2 LLC was harmed by the allegedly false claims, it does not mean a New Jersey court has personal jurisdiction over the suit.
