Florida Jury Returns $100K Verdict Over Starbucks Spill

Law360, Miami (May 19, 2017, 2:28 PM EDT) -- A drive-thru mishap has proved costly for Starbucks Corp., as a Florida state court jury returned a verdict of more than $100,000 for a woman burned by a spill after the lid came off a cup of hot coffee as an employee handed it to her in her car.

Following a trial in circuit court in Jacksonville, jurors found plaintiff Joanne Mogavero incurred $15,492 in past medical expenses as a result of the accident and also awarded $55,000 for past damages and $30,000 for future damages...
