Riddell Concussion Claims May Head For State Court Fight
By Zachary Zagger (May 24, 2017, 3:34 PM EDT) -- A state court fight could be looming for former NFL players who had claims against football helmet maker Riddell, the next step in a yearslong series of suits over concussions and head injuries.
Even though the NFL settled claims against it in 2015 from a massive multidistrict concussion litigation that dated back to 2012, claims from at least 95 personal injury lawsuits against Riddell Inc. and related companies have lingered. U.S. District Judge Anita Brody, the Pennsylvania federal judge overseeing the case, last week ordered the parties to start litigating the claims against Riddell for failing to warn players of risks and defects...
