Philly Building Collapse Victim Denied Immediate Payout

Law360, Philadelphia (June 13, 2017, 1:30 PM EDT) -- A Philadelphia judge, following an emergency hearing on Tuesday, denied a request for an immediate payout from the woman who was awarded $95.6 million in binding arbitration after losing the lower half of her body in the 2013 Center City building collapse.

Mariya Plekan, who received the largest award out of a $227 million settlement, argued that she needed the money to pay for required skilled therapy services that her current nursing home was not providing.
