Law360, New York (June 28, 2017, 10:54 AM EDT) -- ABC said Wednesday it has reached an “amicable” settlement to end a defamation suit over its reports calling Beef Products Inc.'s beef trimmings “pink slime."

Beef Products had alleged ABC cost it $1.9 billion with a disparaging series of news reports in 2012 that implied BPI’s “lean finely textured beef,” or LFTB, isn’t actually beef, isn’t nutritious and isn’t safe, and hammered these points home by repeatedly calling the product “pink slime.”
