Nissan Transmission Deal OK'd As Fee Objections Squashed

Law360, New York (July 3, 2017, 5:40 PM EDT) -- A Florida federal judge has approved a class action settlement Nissan North America Inc. reached over allegedly defective transmissions, overruling objectors who said the “high-powered attorneys” working the case showed “blatant stupidity” and don’t deserve $3.75 million in fees. 

U.S. District Judge Robert N. Scola Jr. issued final approval of the deal last Wednesday, finding the settlement to be “fair, reasonable and adequate.” Under the agreement, Nissan has agreed to provide free two-year, 24,000-mile extended transmission warranties to everyone who owned or leased nearly 200,000 Pathfinders, Infiniti...
