Senate Panel Nears Agreement On Patent Reform

Law360 (March 31, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee have signaled that they are coming closer to a compromise on legislation to reform the U.S. patent system after making headway on controversial measures related to patent infringement damages and post-grant reviews.

Patrick Leahy, judiciary chairman and co-sponsor of the Patent Reform Act, and Arlen Specter, the panel’s ranking member, said Tuesday at an executive business meeting that they were on the verge of reaching an agreement on the language of the bill.
