Over Objections, Tower Auto Judge OK's Union Deal

Law360, New York (August 31, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Snubbing creditors of Tower Automotive Inc., a federal bankruptcy judge on Wednesday gave the green light to an unusual settlement between the bankrupt auto parts maker and two of its unions to cut labor costs.

The settlement was reached with the United Auto Workers and the International Union of Electric Workers/Communications Workers of America, who had threatened to strike if planned cuts went into effect.
