Fox Seeks To Bar EchoStar Transmissions

Law360, New York (September 1, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Unhappy with attempts by EchoStar Communications Corp. to remedy an alleged violation of federal laws, Fox Broadcasting Co. has asked a judge to bar EchoStar from transmitting network programming from one city to satellite TV subscribers in a different area.

Fox, whose parent company News Corp. owns EchoStar rival DirecTV, requested a permanent injunction in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida that would bar EchoStar’s Dish network from broadcasting to distant stations.

Distant channels are ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox network channels...
