Law360, Washington (August 17, 2017, 11:08 AM EDT) -- Although Senate leaders reached an agreement to push through dozens of nominees before the summer recess, Democrats and President Donald Trump’s administration remain at odds over many of the close to 140 officials and judges still in the pipeline.
The administration secured close to 70 new officials in a flurry of confirmations before the summer break, allowing close to 120 to take their jobs so far in Trump’s presidency. Those vary from U.S. Department of Defense officials to Justice Department assistant attorney generals, and their appointments were trumpeted as a bipartisan agreement that would help those agencies avoid costly delays....
