DOC Nixes Broadwater Long Island Sound LNG Plan

Law360 (April 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce issued a decision Monday to block Broadwater Energy LLC from building a controversial floating liquefied natural gas terminal in the Long Island Sound, holding that the long-term environmental effects would outweigh the project’s benefits.

The ruling upheld objections filed by the state of New York, which argued that the project violated the Coastal Zone Management Act’s Long Island Sound Coastal Management Program.
