EPA Doles Out $600M For Superfund Waste Cleanup

Law360, New York (April 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has released $600 million for hazardous waste cleanup at about 50 Superfund projects throughout the U.S. as the agency continues to distribute the $7.22 billion it received from the recently passed economic stimulus package.

On Wednesday, the EPA announced the distribution of money for Superfund, touting the funds, which came from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, as a way to speed up hazardous waste cleanup and stimulate the local economy by creating jobs at the sites.
