Montrose Insurer Rails Against $6M Latham Fees

Law360, New York (April 22, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An insurance company has lashed out at Latham & Watkins LLP for allegedly overcharging Montrose Chemical Corp. of California for defense of a long-running toxic tort case and has asked a California court to order the firm and its client into arbitration.

Noting runaway rates and a rash of duplicative work, Century Indemnity Co. filed a petition Thursday in the Superior Court of the State of California for the County of Los Angeles over roughly $6 million in fees the insurer paid Latham for four-and-a-half years...
