Howard Economist Tapped For Labor Policy Post

Law360 (April 22, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- President Obama has announced that he will nominate labor advocate and Howard University economist William E. Spriggs to become assistant secretary for labor policy at the U.S. Department of Labor.

The president revealed the choice of Spriggs on Tuesday, along with poverty expert and economist Rebecca M. Blank as undersecretary for economics affairs for the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Spriggs has a history of working on behalf of workers, particularly poor and immigrant workers, and closely with unions.
