Mich. May Lose Out If Ch. 11 Is In Detroit's Future

Law360 (April 23, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Michigan officials are hoping that if a U.S. automaker is yet pushed into Chapter 11, it will head to bankruptcy court in the state. But absent any clear signals from Detroit's struggling firms, legal experts question whether Michigan would be a car company's first pick.

Big ticket bankruptcies have tended to gravitate toward Delaware or Manhattan bankruptcy courts, and a high-profile Chapter 11 of a U.S. automaker may well follow suit, experts said.
