Rep. Slams Rejection Of DACA Applications Delayed In Mail

Law360, New York (November 13, 2017, 10:24 PM EST) -- An Illinois congressman said Friday that it was "unacceptable" for federal officials to deny at least 21 renewal applications for the endangered Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that were sent on time but apparently mishandled by the U.S. Postal Service.

Some of the applications were mailed weeks in advance by individuals in Chicago to a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services address also in Chicago, but did not arrive by an Oct. 5 deadline imposed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., said in an announcement.
