Adidas Says Pitino Must Arbitrate Emotional Distress Suit

Law360, New York (November 27, 2017, 7:59 PM EST) -- Adidas America Inc. on Friday urged a Kentucky federal judge to dismiss or transfer Rick Pitino’s suit against it related to bribery allegations involving the University of Louisville basketball program that he previously led, arguing that his claim must be arbitrated.

Pitino’s tort of outrage claim, centering on his perceived participation in a scandal over money funneled to the family of a basketball recruit at the university, is subject to an arbitration provision in his endorsement agreement with Adidas, the apparel company said.
