Feds Charge 13 In Hack Of Ride-Hailing Drivers' Accounts

Law360, Los Angeles (November 30, 2017, 10:37 PM EST) -- New York federal prosecutors revealed charges against 13 people allegedly responsible for hacking into ride-hailing companies’ drivers’ accounts and siphoning money out, saying Thursday that the team stole millions from company accounts to enrich themselves.

The 13 alleged thieves would trick drivers for two different ride-hailing companies into providing their passwords or other identifying information, then use it to gain unauthorized access to the drivers’ online accounts and divert payments for the drivers to hacker-controlled bank accounts instead, according to Joon H.
