Nissan To Pay $98M To Exit Takata Air Bag MDL

Law360, New York (August 8, 2017, 8:32 PM EDT) -- Nissan is the latest automaker to settle allegations in multidistrict litigation over defective Takata Corp. air bags, agreeing to a $97.7 million payout, consumers told a Florida federal judge Tuesday.

The preliminary settlement, if approved, would make Nissan the fifth automaker to be released from litigation, after Toyota, Subaru, Mazda and BMW agreed to pay a combined $553.6 million in May.
