NJ Senators Move Closer To Ending Legal Pot Gridlock

Law360 (February 19, 2021, 7:45 PM EST) -- A New Jersey Senate panel inched closer Friday to ending a stalemate between Gov. Phil Murphy and legislators over the state's recreational marijuana legalization effort, advancing a bill that would establish consequences for underage possession of cannabis items and permit related police misconduct charges.

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved that so-called cleanup bill in the latest attempt to secure the governor's signature on separate bills passed by the Legislature about two months ago to establish a regulated marketplace for selling adult-use recreational marijuana and decriminalize the possession of up to six ounces of the drug.
