Law360 (April 12, 2018, 1:54 PM EDT) -- On March 22, 2018, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York granted a conditional certification of the Fair Labor Standards Act collective action claims in Julian v. Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. The plaintiffs allege that Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, or MetLife, misclassified them and other similarly situated long term disability claim specialists (LTD claims specialists) as exempt from overtime. Claims were asserted as class and collective claims under the FLSA, New York Labor Law and the Connecticut Minimum Wage Act seeking damages in excess of $50 million.
