The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently signaled its intent to provide strong federal leadership in regulating PFAS by proposing an interagency EPA Council on PFAS. Among other things, the council will be tasked with evaluating whether to designate perfluorooctanoic acid, or PFOA, and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid, or PFOS — two of the most studied PFAS compounds — as hazardous substances and/or hazardous waste under environmental statutes...
