MGIC Denied Insurance To Moms On Leave: Suit

Law360, New York (October 4, 2010, 2:02 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania woman has launched a putative class action accusing Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corp. of denying private mortgage insurance to women on maternity leave.

MGIC has an unlawful policy and practice of refusing to provide private mortgage insurance to women on maternity leave from their jobs, Carly F. Neals claimed in a complaint filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

According to the complaint, the insurer's conduct violates the Fair Housing Act and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
