Retired MetLife Agents Lose Class Certification Bid

Law360 (June 7, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge in Manhattan has refused to grant class action status to a breach of contract suit against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. brought by all retired MetLife insurance agents who sold property and casualty insurance during their employment with the company.

The plaintiffs claim that MetLife promised to pay them commissions for as long as they lived on all in-force property and casualty insurance policies they wrote prior to retiring.
